Only several weeks after discovering a <a href="http://blog.deanscards.com/2017/06/hidden-gem-rare-ty-cobb-card-discovered.html" target="_blank">rare Ty Cobb promo card</a>, one of three in known existence, another item in our possession featuring the likes of the once famous actor <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0449857/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm" target="_blank">J. Warren Kerrigan</a> has proven even more scarce. According to a feed on <a href="http://www.network54.com/Forum/526604/thread/1475281919/last-1475515582/new+T222+actor+card+discovered" target="_blank">Net54’s Vintage Non-Sports Forum</a>, the card, identified as a 1914 T222 Fatima, was not thought to have existed until less than one year ago, when the first of its kind <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/1914-T222-Fatima-Photoplay-Stars-J-Warren-Kerrigan-Uncatalogued-Only-1-Known-/381794147419?rmvSB=true" target="_blank">surfaced and sold on eBay</a>. This discovery here at Dean’s Cards is the first since then, making ours only the second known example of this uncataloged relic.</span></div>

Although making his start on Broadway, Kerrigan did not obtain fame until appearing on the big screen and quickly experienced immense fandom. By 1910, he was believed to have over 40 million followers, and a few years later the film magazine, Photoplay, wrote an article titled, </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><i><a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=Y3wNAQAAIAAJ&pg=RA2-PA15&lpg=RA2-PA15&dq=j+warren+kerrigan+the+great+god+kerrigan&source=bl&ots=vyrqVqoR5B&sig=_WhGm-M-Yvp9d5HQktGfXlDyc08&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjD8ZeP_sXVAhUD6SYKHZR1DkUQ6AEIaTAQ#v=onepage&q&f=false" target="_blank">The Great God Kerrigan</a></i></span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">, (see page 41) which discussed the star’s preference of the great outdoors over the Hollywood party scene as well as his love for his mother. When asked why the twenty-six-year-old, widely known for his good looks, was not yet married, Kerrigan was quoting as saying, “I don’t think I would ever be very likely to find a woman as good as my mother.” Years later it became known that the mama’s boy was in fact homosexual.</span></div>

Kerrigan, upon being asked whether or not he would enlist in the military, stated he would not serve since the army should first take, “the great mass of men who aren’t good for anything else.” The American public proved to be unforgivable in a time of war, and the golden boy of the silent film era was immediately ostracized. Although he eventually managed to star in a few popular films in the 1920’s, Kerrigan never again experienced his former popularity and lived out a private life with his mother and partner. If the usually charming Kerrigan had refrained from making this statement more of us would probably know his name today.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">Not to be outdone, the circumstances of Kerrigan’s inclusion in the 1914 Fatima set are compelling in their own right, as T222 is mostly known as a baseball card set. The sixty-three card set, now sixty-four with the addition of Kerrigan, features fifty-two baseball players, with the remainder of the seemingly misplaced cards depicting other athletes and movie stars. The set is considered complete amongst most collectors with only the fifty-two ball players, leading many to wonder why twelve random celebrities appeared alongside the likes of baseball legends Walter Johnson and Rube Marquard.</span></div>

Of these three products, two featured team pictures of professional clubs, the 1913 Fatima Team Cards (T200) and the Fatima Premiums. However, the 1913-1915 Fatima Posters depicted a single player, and seem to have been the most popular product, as they continued to print them for two more years. This may have urged Liggett & Meyers to combine the convenient size of the team cards with the depiction of a single player, resulting in the birth of the 2 ½” x 4 ½” images in 1914. The company apparently felt a need to step up their game to an even greater level, as the decision was made to include other athletes and movie stars in addition to baseball players. The back of each card describes the set as a “Collection of 100 photographs of famous Baseball players, American Athletic champions and Photoplay stars”. You can see the checklists for all of the Fatima sets on pages 166-67 in the 6th edition of the </span><a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=OtjhDAAAQBAJ&pg=PA167&lpg=PA167&dq=t222+fatima+catalog&source=bl&ots=Dm14RhlrFF&sig=SRDYHPxxphofJp5er-0QFOg5rsI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjH0trz4cXVAhUDPiYKHeDJCpsQ6AEIOjAD#v=onepage&q&f=false" target="_blank"><span style="color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: italic; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards</span><span style="color: black; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">.</span></a></div>

According to <a href="http://www.cardboardconnection.com/t222-fatima-baseball-cards" target="_blank">The Cardboard Connection</a>, there is a reason to believe more photoplay star photographs from 1914 Fatima will emerge in the years to follow. Regardless, we’re lucky the production of these photographs was terminated just late enough for a few Kerrigan cards to slip their way into cigarette packs. Who knows, there are probably a few more out there waiting to be discovered.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">Last week an exciting discovery was made deep in the dungeons of Dean’s Cards. As Dean’s son, home from college, I was given the task of researching this unique Ty Cobb card, a relic previously undiscovered. When Dean first acquired this artifact over ten years ago, he knew it was old and most likely rare, but remained unsure what he had on his hands. After several experts admitted they had never seen anything like this item before, Dean hesitated from releasing it to the market. As a result, this cardboard depiction of the 4,000 hit club’s founding member sat on a shelf and waited ten more years until its mysteries were finally unraveled.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">According to our research, Philadelphia Caramel expert Erik Varon recently discovered a nexus between this lookalike E95 Ty Cobb card and a Philadelphia Caramel Company advertisement issued circa 1910. Varon concluded this card was cut from an ad similar to the one pictured below, which was probably distributed to convince potential vendors to carry the company’s soon to be released baseball cards. This would make this item </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">one of the earliest known promo cards. </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">These 1909 Philadelphia Caramel cards were later designated by collectors as E95’s, and feature twenty-five stars of the day including Cobb. While our find may appear almost identical to the </span><a href="https://www.psacard.com/cardfacts/baseball-cards/1909-philadelphia-caramel-e95/ty-cobb/15688" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; text-align: center;" target="_blank">E95 Cobb card</a><span style="font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">, further inspection will reveal that the lettering was enlarged and moved from the bottom margin to above Cobb’s head, probably to make the image more suitable for a larger print.</span><br />

<b><u>1958 Topps Baseball</u></b><br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
At Dean's Cards, we buy hundreds of <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards">vintage baseball card</a> collections every year. These collections range from cards acquired during childhood (that have most likely been sitting in a closet or attic for years), to collectors selling their <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/2210/Sets">baseball card sets</a> and cards that have taken years to acquire through shows, card shops, or a websites like <a href="http://deanscards.com/">DeansCards.com</a>.<br />

Everyone has their own reasons for selling their vintage cards. One of the reasons could be a collector wanting to sell their duplicate cards. We've had many cases of customers and clients sending us their dupes in order to maybe focus on another part of their collection, or simply clean out the attic or closet a little bit. Here's an example of a customer that sent us his extra <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/29/1958-Topps">1958 Topps Baseball cards</a> for us to purchase.<br />

<b><u>The "bulk" of the collection</u></b><br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RsKVLLZ8Igk/U86MvkAxFLI/AAAAAAAAD1Q/eaxz0xyZW1I/s1600/1958-all-star-blog-box-cards-on-table.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RsKVLLZ8Igk/U86MvkAxFLI/AAAAAAAAD1Q/eaxz0xyZW1I/s1600/1958-all-star-blog-box-cards-on-table.jpg" height="223" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">It's no understatement to say that we just bought<br />
box upon box of <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/29/1958-Topps">1958 Topps cards</a>.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
For those who may not be experts, the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/29/1958-Topps">1958 Topps Baseball Card Set</a> is easier to build than some other sets released around the same time. <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps">1957 Topps</a> Baseball has an expensive mid-series, that can make the set a bit pricier to complete. <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/32/1959-Topps">1959 Topps</a> Baseball has a high number series that's slightly more expensive, and also has almost 80 more cards than its 1958 counterpart. This makes <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/29/1958-Topps">1958 Topps Baseball</a> an appealing set to build for those new to collecting <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards">Topps cards</a> from the 1950s.<br />
<br />
This set is also fun to build in the sense that it has so many star cards of those beloved Hall-of-Famer's of the 1950s. This is due to the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/search?s=1958+as">Sport Magazine All-Star subset</a>, as well as multi-player cards depicting various players from around the league. These cards are often themed and have titles such as, "<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/290497/1958-Topps-321-Sluggers-Supreme-Ted-Williams-Ted-Kluszewski">Slugger's Supreme</a>," "<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/299916/1958-Topps-386-Birdie-s-Young-Sluggers-Ed-Bailey-Birdie-Tebbets-Frank-Robinson">Birdie's Young Sluggers</a>," "<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/32428/1958-Topps-418-World-Series-Batting-Foes-Mickey-Mantle-Hank-Aaron">World Series Batting Foes</a>" and "<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/296/1958-Topps-436-Rival-Fence-Busters-Duke-Snider-Willie-Mays">Rival Fence Busters</a>."<br />
<br />
Altogether, we purchased <i>over 3,000 cards from 1958 Topps</i>. Many of these were duplicates. We <b>LOVE</b> buying collections like this. If you aren't familiar with how our "Everyday Discounts" work, <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/Buy-Baseball-Cards-Discounts">click here</a>. The more cards we have in inventory and the more cards you buy, the more you save! Nobody else has the selection of 1958 Topps as <a href="http://deanscards.com/">Deanscards.com</a>.<br />

</tbody></table>
<span id="goog_1777041516"></span>There was an exceptional amount of All-Star cards included in this collection. Even though they were part of the all-stars subset, not all of these guys were big-time Hall of Famers. <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/herb-score-baseball-cards">Herb Score</a> wasn't even an All-Star in 1957. He actually was hurt for most of the season after being hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/gil-mcdougald-baseball-cards">Gil McDougald</a>. A promising pitching career, for all intensive purposes, was cut short as Score would never return to form after the injury. Virtually every other player depicted in this subset would go on to have productive careers in the big leagues.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">The most interesting thing about this set might be the photography used to depict the baseball players. You rarely will see better photos taken during this time period of guys like <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/ty-cobb-baseball-cards">Ty Cobb</a>, <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/honus-wagner-baseball-cards">Honus Wagner</a>, or <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/walter-johnson-baseball-cards">Walter Johnson</a>.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">What makes it even better is that there are several supplements which have multiple players featured on the front. These player combinations range from players talking to shaking hands. The most valuable of these multi-player photos has to be the </span><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/327452/1910-M101-2-Sporting-News-Supplements-36-March-17-1910-Ty-Cobb-Honus-Wagner">March 17, 1910 Ty Cobb / Honus Wagner</a>.</span></span><br />

Most of these posters were in low to mid-grade condition, but they all had great eye appeal. These things are just plain neat, and the photography is beautiful. <b><u><br /></u></b>
<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">At Dean's Cards, we buy hundreds of vintage baseball card collections every year. These collections range from cards acquired during childhood (that have most likely been sitting in a closet or attic for years), to collectors selling their baseball card sets and cards that have taken years to acquire through shows, card shops, or a website like </span><a href="http://deanscards.com/" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">DeansCards.com</a><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">. This is another story of a recent collection we were able to purchase.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Baseball collectibles can take on many forms. Generally, when we get a collection mailed to us (and we get a lot! Hundreds a year.), they are those little cardboard rectangles that <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/292/1933-Goudey-R319">Goudey</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/1950s-baseball-cards">Topps, Fleer, Bowman</a> and other gum companies made so popular. This is overwelmingly the case, maybe even 95% of the time.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">That's not to say <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards">baseball "cards"</a> are the only things we buy and sell. But when you get into the late 1940's, to the beginning of <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/1950s-baseball-cards">Topps in the early 50's</a>, and to the present; </span><a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">baseball cards</a><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"> (mostly around the 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" variety) are the standard.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">That wasn't always the case. The sport of baseball has been around since the mid to late 1800's. From that time until around the World War II era, there would be a lot of different companies using the stars of the baseball diamond to market their product.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><b><u>So what are these things anyways?</u></b></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><b><u><br /></u></b></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">The <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/2019/1914-B18-Blankets">1914 B18 Baseball Blankets</a> are anything but conventional when it comes to your average baseball card collecting. In fact, you may find these in a closet, attic, barn, etc. and not have a clue what they are or if they have any value. For this reason I'm sure that a lot of them have just been discarded and maybe thrown away over the years.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 17.25px; white-space: pre-wrap;">There are some instances in which these blanket squares have been quilted into bigger blankets. And it's amazing how well some of these little felt squares have held up after 100 years.</span></span><br />
<br />
Overall, the<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/2019/1914-B18-Blankets"> 1914 B18 Baseball Blankets</a> set consists of 91 cloth squares, 56 of which have at least two color variations. The blankets are organized by baseball team and then alphabetically by player's last name. They were obtained as a promotion given by various cigarette companies.<br />

The <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3266/1912-T207-Brown-Background-Reprints">T207 set</a>, commonly known as the brown background set, was originally manufactured by the tobacco industry giant, the American Tobacco Company, in 1912. The T207 baseball cards measure 1½” by 2-5/8”. Shortly after this set was printed, the American Tobacco Company would be dissolved due to the Sherman anti-trust legislation that broke the monopoly on tobacco.<br />
<br />
The<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3266/1912-T207-Brown-Background-Reprints"> T207 baseball card set</a> is a true hobby classic. The 200-card T207 set contains 13 players that are in Baseball’s Hall-of-Fame, including <b><a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=walter+johnson">Walter Johnson</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=tris+speaker">Tris Speaker</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?p=1&s=frank+chance&gx=10&gm=-10&px=99999999&pm=0&qx=99999999&qm=1&fx=99999999&fm=0&ps=100&t=&y=&l=">Frank Chance</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?p=1&s=John+McGraw&gx=10&gm=-10&px=99999999&pm=0&qx=99999999&qm=1&fx=99999999&fm=0&ps=100&t=&y=&l=">John McGraw</a>,<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=+Smokey+Joe+Wood"> Smokey Joe Wood</a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?p=1&s=Joe+Tinker&gx=10&gm=-10&px=99999999&pm=0&qx=99999999&qm=1&fx=99999999&fm=0&ps=100&t=&y=&l=">Joe Tinker</a>.</b> Two interesting T207 cards are<b> <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=Eddie+Cicotte">Eddie Cicotte</a> </b>and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=Buck+Weaver"><b>Buck Weaver</b></a>, who were members of the 1919 White Sox and banned from the game for life.<br />

This set is unique to <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/">Dean’s cards.</a> We created it ourselves. It took a total of two years to get the entire process done. <span style="color: red;"><b><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">This is the only official T207 Reprint Set out there</span></span></b></span>. To do so, we created a new company called <b><u><i>Dean’s Reprints</i></u></b> and began securing the needed images.<br />
<br />
This is one of the most famous pre-war sets and it was never issued or offered in the form of a reprint set.<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/2268/Reprint-Sets"><b> Reprint Sets</b></a> give collectors the opportunity to enjoy cards that they might not be able to collect in the original form.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://deanscards.com/"><b>DeansCards.com</b></a> sells quite a few reprint singles and complete sets every year. For that reason, I decided we should recreate and issue a<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3266/1912-T207-Brown-Background-Reprints"> T207 reprint set</a>. Due to the quality of the century old cards, almost all of the T207 images needed to be retouched. Great care was given making sure that the reprint cards remained true to the original set.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-30ZsIBiSLfQ/U2FZS-ZtddI/AAAAAAAAAHs/-ZFF7lHW_L8/s1600/186+Weaver+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-30ZsIBiSLfQ/U2FZS-ZtddI/AAAAAAAAAHs/-ZFF7lHW_L8/s1600/186+Weaver+Back.jpg" height="200" width="120" /></a><br />
<br />
The original <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/477/1912-T207-Brown-Background">T207 set</a> includes eight possible backs containing the name of tobacco brands in which the original cards were enclosed. We included a variety of these backs in the<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/2268/Reprint-Sets"> reprint set</a> including three cards containing the ultra-scarce “Red Cross” backs. We were careful to use those backs on <br />
cards, whose originals have been discovered with a Red Cross back.<br />
<br />
One of the most interesting features of the<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3266/1912-T207-Brown-Background-Reprints"> T207 baseball card set</a> are the player biographies on the back of the cards. Each of these bios needed to be retyped. We were careful to stay true to the original fonts and leave the original century old misspelled words. We also made sure to give it an assigned number to help collectors keep track. To ensure it is indeed a<b> REPRINT</b>, we added <b>REPRINT</b> to the back of the cards. I hope that the hobby purists will forgive us for these minor changes.<br />

<br />
We have recently acquired a beautiful collection of <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3082/1962-Bubbles-Inc-Mars-Attacks"><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">1962 Bubbles Inc. Mars Attacks cards</span></b></a>. The grades on these cards range anywhere from <b>Excellent</b> to <b>Near Mint.</b><br />
<br />
Wally Wood and Bob Powell were hired to draw the sketches of the images while artist Norman Saunders ( Who also did the<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/722/1962-Topps-Civil-War-News"><b><span style="color: #783f04;"> <span style="background-color: white;">Civil War News</span></span></b></a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/716/1956-Topps-Flags-of-the-World"><b><span style="color: blue;">Flags of the World</span></b></a>) brought the images to life with color.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yEw0kPL7uao/U2ACyMa4x9I/AAAAAAAAAHA/km2MGJsgiJU/s1600/mars+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline !important; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yEw0kPL7uao/U2ACyMa4x9I/AAAAAAAAAHA/km2MGJsgiJU/s1600/mars+front.jpg" height="195" width="320" /></a>The cards were distributed via vending machine, costing 5 cents for a pack of five. They initially sparked some controversy with parents because of their gory images and explicit themes. The violent depictions were not the norm for trading cards from that era.<br />
<br />
This series is particularly hard to come by because many mothers at the time threw them away due to the graphic images they presented.<br />
<br />
The first card, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/156155/1962-Bubbles-Inc-Mars-Attacks-1-The-Invasion-Begins-"><b><span style="color: #0b5394;">"The Invasion Begins"</span></b></a> as well as the last card, which is a <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/43038/1962-Bubbles-Inc-Mars-Attacks-55-Checklist-"><b><span style="color: #0b5394;">checklist</span></b></a>, are the two most valuable cards in the set. These cards command a premium in higher grade.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JCt1Tg7AG0w/U2ACo7hpSmI/AAAAAAAAAG4/ukKEI2NbrzM/s1600/checklist+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JCt1Tg7AG0w/U2ACo7hpSmI/AAAAAAAAAG4/ukKEI2NbrzM/s1600/checklist+back.jpg" height="195" width="320" /></a><br />
We currently have these cards in stock and they are both graded by PSA. “<b><i> The invasion Begins” is a PSA 6 and the checklist grades a PSA 5.5. </i></b>Those are highly achieved grades since many of the cards issued back then had centering problems<br />

The 1950’s was the start of the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/117/1950-Bowman-Football" target="_blank">Bowman</a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/16/1951-Topps-Football" target="_blank">Topps </a>Wars.
During the 1950’s the number of teams and players would increase, therefore
there would be more cards available then in previous sets.

<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/30852/1950-Bowman-1950-Bowman-Football-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">The 1950 Bowman Football Complete Set </a>contains 144 cards.
This set is truly a classic and a treasure to have. Collectors like this set
because it is quite the challenge to piece on together. There were not that
many cards for this series produced. This set also<span style="color: blue;"><span style="background-color: white;"> <i><b>contains no errors or short
prints</b></i>. </span></span>When this series of cards was first introduced it was sold in nickel wax
packs. Only on a real rare occasion can you find a wax pack for this series in
today’s time.

positions/poses. The card features either a close up, kicking pose, catching
pose or the player running. When you flip the card over you can tell that
<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/117/1950-Bowman-Football" target="_blank">Bowman</a> still had not changed what the backs of the cards looked like. The back is
on a very plain piece of cardboard paper with the players name in red. Below
that, in black ink is a short bio with the
position the player had at the time.<br />

<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/323382/1957-Topps-1957-58-Topps-Basketball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">The 1957-58 Topps Basketball Complete Set</a> is considered to be a fairly scarce set. Even though it is scarce we have managed to build one. <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/27/1957-58-Topps-Basketball-Cards" target="_blank">The1957-58 basketball</a> season consisted of 8 teams that were divided into two divisions. Even though the color barrier was broken by then, ( due to <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/27/1957-58-Topps-Basketball-Cards" target="_blank">Jackie Robinson</a>), the set still only has a total of 10 African American Players.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6jNyI9iI12g/UthOVRdLr7I/AAAAAAAABdk/coigYiADX_k/s1600/1463589f111.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6jNyI9iI12g/UthOVRdLr7I/AAAAAAAABdk/coigYiADX_k/s1600/1463589f111.jpg" height="320" width="189" /></a>The set also features 21 Hall of Famers which include <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/27/1957-58-Topps-Basketball-Cards" target="_blank">Bill Russell</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=bob+cousy" target="_blank">Bob Cousy</a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=bob+pettit" target="_blank">Bob Pettit</a>. Nearly all the players in this set are a Rookie card because there had not been a major basketball complete set since the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/13/1948-Bowman-Football" target="_blank">1948 Bowman </a>Basketball Complete Set.<br />
<br />
It is very hard to get this set in a high condition. The condition that we currently built is in <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/323382/1957-Topps-1957-58-Topps-Basketball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">Excellent. </a> The reason it is hard to acquire in such a high condition is due to the fact that when these cards were sheeted they were often un-centered and were printed with a snowy background. As a result of bad centering and printing some backs of the cards are printed upside down.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WZGJ8r9KNR4/UthObzuxr4I/AAAAAAAABds/5EjQnTMrr-0/s1600/1463589beww.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WZGJ8r9KNR4/UthObzuxr4I/AAAAAAAABds/5EjQnTMrr-0/s1600/1463589beww.jpg" height="320" width="197" /></a>The players on the cards are featured in the vintage uniforms of the time. The shorts were shorter back then and the tanks were tighter. Some of the cards feature multiple players in the background or faded out crowds of people.<br />
<br />
The back of the cards feature the players biography, statistics and even had a generically draw <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/Buy-And-Sell-Basketball-Cards" target="_blank">basketball player.</a> As mentioned earlier, some of the backs were upside down.
This set will make a great addition to any collectors set.<br />

The set consists of 280 cards that were released in four different series. This set is missing cards <b>#253, 261, 268, 271, 275</b> and <b>276</b>. This was due to the fact that Topps hoped to nab players who had a contract with Bowman, but the contract was not expired yet. When these cards were first introduced they were sold in Wax packs for five cents each.<br />
<br />
The beautiful portrait like images are based on actual photographs of the more popular players from the series such as <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=mickey+mantle" target="_blank">Mantle</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=jackie+robinson" target="_blank">Robinson</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=satchel+paige" target="_blank">Paige</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=yogi+berra" target="_blank">Berra</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=Phil+Rizzuto" target="_blank">Rizutto</a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=Roy+Campanella" target="_blank">Campanella</a>.<br />
<br />
The boarders of these cards are solid white. On the front side bottom there is a box that features the players name, position, team and the logo of the team. The backs of the cards feature the player’s stats from <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/17/1952-Topps" target="_blank">1952 </a>and a Dugout quiz. In this year they even decided to distinguish between the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3271/American-League" target="_blank">American League</a> and the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3273/National-League" target="_blank">National League</a>. If the player was in the American League the box is <span style="color: #cc0000;">red</span>, for the National League it is<b> black</b>.<br />

The top selling and most valuable cards in this set are the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=1953+Topps+Mantle" target="_blank">Mantle</a>, <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=1953+Topps+Mays" target="_blank">Mays</a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/search?s=1953+topps+Robinson" target="_blank">Robinson</a> cards.<br />

<br />
By: Dean Hanley,<br />
Founder and Owner; Deans Cards<br />
<br />
We have recently hand built a <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/322193/1969-Topps-1969-Topps-Baseball-Master-Complete-Set-702-Cards-Includes-all-White-Letter-Variations-" target="_blank">1969 Topps Baseball Complete Master Set</a>. This set consists of 702 cards, whereas the complete set has 664 Cards. There are 38 variation cards in the master set. This set also contains the last card for <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/s/mickey-mantle" target="_blank">Mickey Mantle</a> during his playing days.<br />
<br />
This particular set features multiple rookie and star cards. When this set was first introduced it was issued in 7 series. These cards were sold in wax packs, rack packs and cello packs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tUuRo3cbrz4/Uou9sc50vNI/AAAAAAAABa8/zLDtRsCtMUw/s1600/Mc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tUuRo3cbrz4/Uou9sc50vNI/AAAAAAAABa8/zLDtRsCtMUw/s320/Mc.jpg" height="320" width="199" /></a></div>
<br />
The Fronts of these cards are surrounded by a white boarder. The front has the players name and position written in a circle that is placed on the upper right hand side. The pink backs are laid out horizontally and feature a biography, stats and a cartoon pictured.<br />
<br />
The most famous and toughest variations to find in this set are the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/204159/1969-Topps-500-Mickey-Mantle" target="_blank">White Variations</a>. For it to be a white variation the first and last name must both be in white lettering. In the <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/216969/1969-Topps-1969-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">non-master set </a>you will find the last name on the card to be in yellow. It is said that these variations were made due to an ink problem during the printing process.<br />
<br />
The variation cards that are the hardest to find are the most famous. These cards are #440 <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/s/Willie-McCovey" target="_blank">Willie McCovey</a>, #440 <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/s/Gaylord-Perry" target="_blank">Gaylord Perry</a> and #500<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/s/mickey-mantle" target="_blank"> Mickey Mantle</a>. The Mickey Mantle card is the most expensive variation card in the series.<br />
<br />
Since the Variation cards are so hard to find, it is very hard to build a Master Set. With our inventory of over 1 million cards we were able to put together a <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/322193/1969-Topps-1969-Topps-Baseball-Master-Complete-Set-702-Cards-Includes-all-White-Letter-Variations-" target="_blank">Near Mint Plus (7.5) Set</a>. This is a one of a kind set that you are not going to find anywhere else.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t2hCkLXP2eo/Uou9iKfJ62I/AAAAAAAABa0/QZHbASOG-HI/s1600/mantle+white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t2hCkLXP2eo/Uou9iKfJ62I/AAAAAAAABa0/QZHbASOG-HI/s320/mantle+white.jpg" height="320" width="205" /></a> If you have any questions about this set, or if you are interested in any custom built vintage set please <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/Baseball-Cards-Contact-Us-Deans-Cards" target="_blank">contact us.</a><br />

Founder and Owner, Deans Cards<br />
<br />
Back By Popular Demand are our Volume Discounts for customer orders. You have spoken and we have listened. Stop on by our website to see how low our prices have gone. Here is a summary of how our discounts work.<br />
<br />
The Primary Mission Statement of <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean’s Cards</a>, or our purpose for being, is to <b><i>“</i>make vintage card collecting fast, easy and fun”</b>. Two of the many things we do to enable this is to <b>“offer conservatively graded vintage cards at competitive prices</b><i>”</i>. Another goal that we have is<i><b> </b></i><b>“to strive to stock at least one of every vintage card online, in each of the popular grades in stock”</b><i>. </i><br />
<br />
The <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean’s Cards</a> Surplus Inventory Discount, often referred to simply as <b>“Inventory Discounts”</b>, help us to achieve each of these objectives.<br />
<br />
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">Inventory Discounts
</span> </b></u><br />
<br />
The idea of the Dean’s Cards Inventory Discounts is simple. Dean’s Cards has over a million cards online. We buy and sell thousands of vintage cards each week. <i> </i><b>The as the quantity of an “item” (a card, in a particular grade) in the Dean’s Cards Inventory increases, it triggers a higher Inventory Discount and lowers the net price of the item by 10%.</b><br />
<br />
<br />
When<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank"> Dean’s Cards </a>decreases or sells out of a certain item, the Net Price of that item increases. The higher price is then reflected in our Dean’s Cards Bid Software, which allows us to bid more aggressively and replace the items with low quantities. We strive to be your “one stop shop” for vintage cards.<br />

It includes 48 Hall of Famers with no variations.<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/153/1975-Topps-Mini" target="_blank"> The 1975 Topps Mini Set</a> is one of the most unique sets that Topps ever put out. The design of the cards is what makes this set, as well as the regular set pop out. When aligned in a set box, it looks like a prism of colors. It features two color borders that surround the player. The team name at the top has a 3d effect with its bold lettering. The featured baseball tells you the player's position at the time. The player's facsimile signature is written across the front.<br />
<br />
The backs feature the stats of the player as well a comic that has a trivia question. The color scale consist of a red and green solid over a grey.<br />

This is the most pristine <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/153/1975-Topps-Mini" target="_blank">1975 Topps Mini set</a> that we've seen in years. Most of the cards appear to be pack fresh, and none of the cards in this set grade less than Excellent/Mint. Most of the cards in this set grade in the Near Mint to Near Mint/Mint range, and the star cards are a good representation of how the cards in this set appear. We at Dean’s cards have recently custom built a <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/p/164431/1971-Topps-1971-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">1971 Topps Baseball Complete Set</a>, which averages out to be in Near Mint Plus condition. Each and every card for this set was handpicked by our staff. Every single card has been scanned and can be viewed <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/i/1471536/1971-Topps-1971-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
As far as <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/288/Complete-Sets" target="_blank">vintage sets</a> go, no other place has more to offer. We at Dean's cards carry a multitude of vintage complete sets, in both <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/2257/Baseball-" target="_blank">baseball</a> and <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/2258/Football" target="_blank">football</a>. Ranging from years 1952-1972. If you do not see a vintage year and condition that you would like, we can build one for you. Our grades are conservative and we offer individual scans of both front and back of our vintage cards.<br />
<br />
We have recently decided to build <a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/3504/custom-baseball-and-football-card-complete-sets-built-to-order" target="_blank">Custom sets</a> for our customers. The subsets for the 1971 Topps baseball cards are league leaders (61-72), playoff highlights (195-202), and World Series highlights (327-332). The high number series (644-752) is slightly more expensive to collect.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/c/1723/1970s-Complete-Sets" target="_blank">The 1971 Topps Complete Set </a>was released in 7 different series that were about 4-5 weeks apart. The fronts of the cards feature the players name and the position they played. The back of the card features the statistics as well as a black and white photograph.<br />
<br />
The high number series can be pretty tough to come by. When the 7th series was being released, it just so happened to be the beginning of Football Season. Children were starting to buy the football cards, rather than the baseball cards.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">306 B</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This series contains many stars, hall of famers, rookies and minor star cards. It also included variation cards. The<a href="https://www.deanscards.com/s/1971-Topps-Checklist" target="_blank"> check lists</a> in this series have variations to them. Some will have no copyright date, while others may have the number centered or listed off to the right hand side on the back of the card. Some other cards that feature players may also have a black blotch on the front. This happened to occur <br />
when they were first printed. The cards that were printed at a later date do not have this.<br />
<br />
This set is sought out by collectors in a higher graded condition. The black borders and backgrounds tend to pop out at them. They prefer a higher grade because the black is more solid, where on other grades it is chipped or rubbed away. However, it is common for a card of a higher grade to have a slight rub.<br />

Founder and Owner, <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean's Cards</a><br />
<br />
As a long-time <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card</a> collector, I know how disappointing it can be to buy a <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card or baseball card set</a> expecting it to be at a certain grade – and then be disappointed when the actual card or set arrives and it is a far lower grade than you expected.<br />
<br />
At <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean’s Cards</a>, we try to eliminate surprises by providing scans of the ACTUAL CARDS we sell throughout our site. The policy I put in place is pretty easy to understand – “What you see is what you get!” The high quality scans show any imperfections on the front and back of each <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card</a>. All vintage cards in our inventory are sleeved and identified with a serial number so we can make sure we send you the actual card you have reviewed and then purchased online.<br />
<br />
Our in-house grading team reviews all cards and follows the same standards as PSA as we custom-build <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/288/Complete-Sets" target="_blank">Complete Sets</a>, <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/3252/Near-Complete-Sets" target="_blank">Near Complete Sets</a>, <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/289/Starter-Sets" target="_blank">Starter Sets</a>, and <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/3177/Team-Sets-Lots" target="_blank">Team Sets</a> by hand. But we go one step further by considering the “eye appeal” of a card into the grade we assign. The video below shows an in-house grading training session to give you a feel for how meticulous our grading process is.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="312" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fV-bQX1i99c" width="512"></iframe>
But we also have gone one step further to add value to your <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card purchases</a> from Dean’s Cards. You can access ACTUAL IMAGES of any vintage card you purchase from Dean’s Cards by scanning the "QR Code" on the sleeve of your <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card</a> with a smart phone or tablet. <br />
<br />
The QR Code is our first step in developing proprietary card collecting software, so you can organize your collections, and view images and vital statistics of the cards in your collection. Our goal is to bring all the advantages of technology to you to help easily share your cards with others and view your cards easily on your smart device.<br />
<br />
<b>Bringing Baseball Card Collecting into the 21st Century</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Before we introduced QR code tracking, we only had the stock images for the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">vintage baseball card</a>s listed online, but now each and every <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">vintage baseball card</a> has been professionally graded and is accompanied by a full front and back scan. And for your <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">high end baseball cards</a>, you can use the scans to help insure your collection.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table>
As we continue to add more features to the QR scan technology, we will share the news through our website, this blog, email newsletter, <a href="https://plus.google.com/115440165249420651481#115440165249420651481/posts" target="_blank">Google+</a>, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Deans-Cards/173371854186?fref=ts" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/DeansCards" target="_blank">Twitter</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/deanscards" target="_blank">YouTube</a>.<br />
<br />
Our goal at <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean's Cards</a> is to provide you with a simple, cost effective and enjoyable way to build your collections. We’re excited about the technological advancements we have made for you and look forward to continue adding value to your purchases from <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean’s Cards</a>.<br />
<br />
<b>How to View Baseball Card Images on DeansCards.com</b><br />
<br />
As you search for cards on our site, you will see actual images of the cards in our inventory. When you click on the images, you will see enlarged scans of the front and back of each card. This feature allows you to inspect and compare the condition of each card before you make your purchase.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean's Cards</a> has made this investment in advanced technology because we want to take the guesswork out of your <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card</a> purchase. A high quality, fully graded set like this doesn’t come along every day…<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean's Cards</a> just added a set you rarely see -- a complete PSA graded Near Mint (NM+ - 7.5) <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/5290/1957-Topps-1957-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">1957 Topps Baseball Complete Set</a>.<br />
<br />
This is easily the finest <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/5290/1957-Topps-1957-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">1957 Topps Baseball Complete Set</a> that has ever been our pleasure to offer to the public. Most sets of this quality never reach the open market. All of the cards are graded and none of the cards in this set grade below 7 - Near Mint.<br />
<br />
Although the set has a weighted average grade of 7.40, many of the cards could actually grade higher. We saw only a couple of cards that could possibly grade lower. Of the 407 cards in the set, 381 were graded by PSA, 10 by SGC, and 16 by GAI. The only star card, that was not graded by PSA is Roy Campanella.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/5290/1957-Topps-1957-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">1957 Topps</a> set contains 407 cards, each measuring 2 ½" by 3 ½" -- and 1957 was the first year for this measurement which is what we know today as the standard card size. The front of the card features a large vertical color photo of the player, with the player's name, team and position at the bottom of the card. The back of each card features the player's biographical information and statistical history.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/5290/1957-Topps-1957-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">1957 set</a> includes the first star combination cards featuring major players from the 1956 World Series - #400 Dodgers Sluggers and #407 Yankees' Power Hitters. Due to an extremely expensive 4th series (265-352) a complete <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/5290/1957-Topps-1957-Topps-Baseball-Complete-Set-" target="_blank">1957 Topps baseball set</a> is difficult to find in any condition.<br /><br />

Founder and Owner, Dean's Cards<br />
<br />
One of the most confusing things for <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/1/Baseball-Cards" target="_blank">baseball card collectors</a> is understanding how their cards are graded. We get a lot of questions about it. We have been <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/How-to-Grade-Sports-Cards-and-Sports-Magazines" target="_blank">grading baseball cards</a> and other sports and non-sports cards for 12 years, and our <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/How-to-Grade-Sports-Cards-and-Sports-Magazines" target="_blank">grading is based on strict PSA standards</a> -- but we go one step further to take into account a card's "eye appeal" which tends to make our <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/How-to-Grade-Sports-Cards-and-Sports-Magazines" target="_blank">grading standards even more conservative than PSA</a>.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="312" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fV-bQX1i99c" width="512"></iframe>
The video featured on this page shows an in-house training session led by Elana Winget, our purchasing manager, and our grading czar -- or actually our czarina. Elana grades our <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/2210/Sets" target="_blank">complete vintage sets</a>, and we believe they are the best offered in the hobby, thanks to her <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/How-to-Grade-Sports-Cards-and-Sports-Magazines" target="_blank">vintage baseball card grading</a> expertise.<br />
<br />
Elana and I also work closely together to <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/sell-your-baseball-cards" target="_blank">purchase card collections</a>. At Dean's Cards, we constantly strive to make <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/about-buying-and-selling-baseball-cards" target="_blank">card collecting fun and simple</a>. One of the reasons we wanted to share this grading video is to take the mystery out of a process that can often be confusing for collectors.<br />
<br />
The overall goal of our <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/How-to-Grade-Sports-Cards-and-Sports-Magazines" target="_blank">baseball card grading standards</a> is to surpass your expectations on the quality of cards you purchase from us. Founder and Owner of <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/" target="_blank">Dean's Cards</a><br />
<br />
If you want a baseball card set loaded with Hall of Fame players, the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps baseball card set</a> would be a great choice for you. Topps packed the 1st series with a lot of star power, as the set contains seven Hall of Famers in the first 20 cards and 23 HOFers in the first 100 cards. <br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps Baseball Card set</a> remains a favorite among collectors for its full card front color photographs and its use of the vintage ballparks as backdrops for the photos. Critics often complain that the photos have a greenish tint, but I personally think that this adds to the charm of the set.<br />
<br />
During the 1956 season Topps sent a photographer to take actual color photos of the players that would first appear on the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps cards</a>. That is the reason the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps baseball card set </a>contains so many great rookie cards, including future Hall of Famers #338 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/282113/1957-Topps-338-Jim-Bunning" target="_blank">Jim Bunning</a>, #18 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/98764/1957-Topps-18-Don-Drysdale" target="_blank">Don Drysdale</a>, #29 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/78388/1957-Topps-29-Whitey-Herzog" target="_blank">Whitey Herzog</a>, #24 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/7864/1957-Topps-24-Bill-Mazeroski" target="_blank">Bill Mazeroski</a>, #328 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/236362/1957-Topps-328-Brooks-Robinson" target="_blank">Brooks Robinson</a> & #35<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/261408/1957-Topps-35-Frank-Robinson" target="_blank"> Frank Robinson</a>.<br />

<b>Big Klu's Card is a 1950s Collectors Icon</b><br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps set</a> also includes one of the coolest cards ever produced and one that remains extremely popular for collectors: #165 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/192871/1957-Topps-165-Ted-Kluszewski" target="_blank">Ted Kluszewski</a>. Big Klu felt his arms were restrained by the undershirt in the Reds’ tunic uniform top so he refused to wear it – and his card shows his unique look in its full glory.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps</a> set is also well known for the reverse negative of the #20 <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/223375/1957-Topps-20-Hank-Aaron" target="_blank">Hank Aaron</a> card, showing Aaron as a left-handed hitter, a mistake which was never corrected by Topps.<br />
<br />
Beginning with the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps Baseball Card set</a>, the size of the card was reduced to the standard that we are still using today. With 407 cards, the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps Baseball Card set</a> was the largest set that Topps produced up until that time. That said, that number would be bested the following year and again in 1959.<br />
<br />
<b>Still No Stan the Man</b><br />
<br />
Even with all the star cards in the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topp</a>s baseball card set, there is still no Stan Musial card in the set. Stan the Man had a $100,000 annual salary, and he felt that he was worth more than the $125 that Topps paid each of the players. Stan would finally consent to having his images put back on cards in 1958.<br />
<br />
Dean’s Cards builds hundreds of vintage sets each year, and the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps</a> Baseball Card set is definitely one of the tougher sets to assemble. Not only does the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps</a> set have eight great rookie cards, but also the 4th series is so scarce that it is tough to complete – especially in higher conditions.<br />

</tbody></table>
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 Topps</a> set contained two multi-player cards of the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/19764/1957-Topps-400-Dodgers-Sluggers-Carl-Furillo-Gil-Hodges-Roy-Campanella-Duke-Snider" target="_blank">Dodgers Sluggers</a> #400 and <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/65738/1957-Topps-407-Yankees-Power-Hitters-Mickey-Mantle-Yogi-Berra" target="_blank">Yankees Power Hitters</a> #407. Topps would continue the trend of the Multi-Player star cards for another dozen years. It was great way to get the stars of the day on one more card.<b> (By the way did you know you can now search for Multi-Player cards on our website by using the specialty code “MP” in your search for a player card on our website? <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/baseball-card-advanced-search" target="_blank">Click here to see a video and learn about specialty baseball card searches</a>.)</b><br />
<br />
<b>Checklists and Contest Cards Nearly Impossible to Find</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Topps also inserted four contest cards, an ad card and four contest cards into its <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/25/1957-Topps" target="_blank">1957 baseball card</a> set. The checklist cards are nearly impossible to find in nice condition, as many were either marked up or discarded by kids. Due to the cost of the checklists and ad cards, most collectors consider the set complete without any of these special cards<br />

Founder and Owner, Dean’s Cards<br />
<br />
Since I began Dean's Cards in 2001, my goal has always been to provide fellow collectors with a simple, cost effective and enjoyable way to build their collections. That’s why I’m proud to introduce a new advanced website search feature that will make it even easier for you to find the cards you need for your collection.<br />
<br />
We are now completing a project to assign “Specialty Codes” to our inventory of more than 1.5 million cards. So you can now go to the Search Box on the top of every page of our site and search for specific types of cards for all sports by their Specialty Code. (Please note that the Specialty Code project is ongoing so you may see some cards that have not been coded yet.)<br />
<br />
For example, let’s say you wanted to find Hank Aaron’s rookie card. You would just enter “Hank Aaron RK” in the search box and click search, as you see here:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DFBEUQ8Gxfo/Ud2mHLzO42I/AAAAAAAAA8Y/-MEQEOzZnQQ/s1600/Specialty+code+search+Aaron+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="60" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DFBEUQ8Gxfo/Ud2mHLzO42I/AAAAAAAAA8Y/-MEQEOzZnQQ/s400/Specialty+code+search+Aaron+1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You would then get the following result showing all of his rookie cards available in our inventory:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mXlTxKOBV5g/Ud2nYYjQTbI/AAAAAAAAA8w/hSy_UDrRKE8/s1600/Specialty+code+search+Aaron+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="161" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mXlTxKOBV5g/Ud2nYYjQTbI/AAAAAAAAA8w/hSy_UDrRKE8/s400/Specialty+code+search+Aaron+4.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Then you just click on Hank Aaron’s name to see scans of the actual cards so you can choose the card in condition and price range you want, as you see here:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f1Zj50weq-c/Ud2oMyMIxlI/AAAAAAAAA88/Mc5YcpHjkmw/s1600/Specialty+code+search+Aaron+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f1Zj50weq-c/Ud2oMyMIxlI/AAAAAAAAA88/Mc5YcpHjkmw/s400/Specialty+code+search+Aaron+3.JPG" width="370" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>We have added the following Specialty Codes to make searching through our inventory even easier:</b><br />
<b>CL – Checklist Card</b><br />
<b>CO – Coaches Card</b><br />
<b>IA – In Action Card</b><br />
<b>DP – Double Print Card</b><br />
<b>HL – Highlights Card</b><br />
<b>HOF – Hall of Fame Card</b><br />
<b>LG – League Leaders Card</b><br />
<b>MG </b><b> – </b><b> Managers</b><br />
<b>MP – Multi-Player Card</b><br />
<b>PF </b><b> – </b><b> Playoffs</b><br />
<b>RB</b><b> – </b><b> Record Breakers</b><br />
<b>RK – Rookie Card</b><br />
<b>SP – Short Print Card</b><br />
<b>TM – Team Card</b><br />
<b>WS – World Series Card</b><br />
<br />
Here is an example of a Multi-Player (MP) card and how we would code the card internally:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7y5pbNjVTWw/Ud2pbzKcbsI/AAAAAAAAA9M/Jk5O1OYFM8o/s1600/Multi+player+card+specialty+code.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7y5pbNjVTWw/Ud2pbzKcbsI/AAAAAAAAA9M/Jk5O1OYFM8o/s400/Multi+player+card+specialty+code.JPG" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is an example of a World Series (WS) card and how we coded the card internally:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NDSClKBROGs/Ud2p8gOOwrI/AAAAAAAAA9U/1MXgrnndMZ8/s1600/World+Series+specialty+code.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NDSClKBROGs/Ud2p8gOOwrI/AAAAAAAAA9U/1MXgrnndMZ8/s400/World+Series+specialty+code.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, you can not only search by the Specialty Code, but also by the actual title of the card and the name of the players on each card. And thanks to the custom programming of our site by our in-house development team, you will instantly see the results of your search displayed on your screen – and all of these features are compatible with the latest mobile devices, as well.<br />
<br />
As you search for cards on our site, you will see actual images of the cards in our inventory. When you click on the images, you will see enlarged scans of the front and back of each card. This feature allows you to inspect and compare the condition of each card before you make your purchase.<br />
<br />
Dean's Cards has made this continual investment in advanced technology because we want to take the guesswork out of your purchase. When you buy a vintage card from Dean's Cards, "What you see is what you get!"<br />

Founder and Owner, Dean's Cards<br />
<br />
The bright and colorful <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/56/1967-Topps" target="_blank">1967 Topps baseball card set</a> is a favorite of Dean’s Cards collectors. The cards are pure – there are no distracting designs, and that serves to emphasize the beautiful photographs throughout the set.<br />

</tbody></table>
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/56/1967-Topps" target="_blank">1967 Topps</a> star cards are mostly head-shots. Cards <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/52779/1967-Topps-150-Mickey-Mantle" target="_blank">#150 Mickey Mantle</a>,<a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/278241/1967-Topps-200-Willie-Mays" target="_blank"> #200 Willie Mays</a>, and <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/54069/1967-Topps-400-Roberto-Clemente" target="_blank">#400 Roberto Clemente</a> are all three tight head-shots. Card <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/230960/1967-Topps-45-Roger-Maris" target="_blank">#45 Roger Maris</a> is the first to show him as a St. Louis Cardinal. He would play for the Cardinals for another 2 years. Some of the most attractive cards are <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/138297/1967-Topps-250-Hank-Aaron" target="_blank">#250 Hank Aaron</a> and <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/187042/1967-Topps-430-Pete-Rose" target="_blank">#430 Pete Rose</a>. Both <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/187042/1967-Topps-430-Pete-Rose" target="_blank">Rose</a> and <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/138297/1967-Topps-250-Hank-Aaron" target="_blank">Aaron</a> are shown in their batting stances. <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/138297/1967-Topps-250-Hank-Aaron" target="_blank">Aaron</a> looks like he may be taking batting practice, while <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/187042/1967-Topps-430-Pete-Rose" target="_blank">Rose</a> is standing with his back to the outfield of what could be spring training outfield.<br />
<br />
<b>Rookie Cards Stand Out</b><br />
Without a doubt, the rookie cards are one of the best features of the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/56/1967-Topps" target="_blank">1967 Topps baseball card set</a>. The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/56/1967-Topps" target="_blank">1967 Topps baseball card set</a> has several key rookie cards. Card <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/140880/1967-Topps-569-AL-RookiesHank-Allen-Rod-Carew" target="_blank">#569 Rod Carew</a> and <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/96524/1967-Topps-581-Mets-Rookies-Bill-Denehy-Tom-Seaver" target="_blank">#581 Tom Seaver </a>are part of the high number series, so both can be very difficult to find.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><a href="http://www.deanscards.com/p/54069/1967-Topps-400-Roberto-Clemente" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nj-3hdshW50/UdQfPNXdMkI/AAAAAAAAA4o/GdgNEZKDZZE/s400/Roberto+Clemente+1967+Topps.jpg" width="296" /></a></span></td></tr>

<b>High Number Series Tough to Collect</b><br />
The <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/56/1967-Topps" target="_blank">1967 Topps</a> set is one of the most difficult to complete due to the high number seventh series, which consists of cards #534-609. The high number series was not released in all parts of the country, was short printed, and was released at a time when the football season was just starting. These three factors make it very difficult to find any seventh series cards.<br />
<br />
If you asked Dean’s Cards collectors to name their favorite <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/1960s-baseball-cards" target="_blank">1960s baseball card set</a>, many would quickly name the <a href="http://www.deanscards.com/c/56/1967-Topps" target="_blank">1967 Topps baseball</a> card set. The set is fun to collect and challenging at the same time.<br />
